Hey babe, it looks like Ben Affleck is officially moving on from Jennifer Lopez. Honestly, is it really a shock considering everything we’ve seen? Apparently, Mariah Carey isn’t surprised at all and she’s been letting people know. So, what has she said, and what’s really going on with Ben and JLo?
Here’s a quick recap: Ben and Jen started dating back in 2001, and by 2002, Ben had proposed with this massive pink diamond ring. But then, they called off their wedding just days before it was supposed to happen in 2004. Fast forward almost 20 years later to 2021, they were seen on a date in the Hamptons. By 2022, they seemed to be doing great, but it didn’t last long.
They haven’t officially announced a breakup, but fans started noticing something was off around March 2024. Jennifer added fuel to the fire when she liked an Instagram post about healthy relationships that said, “You can’t build a strong relationship with someone who is disconnected from themselves.” She even went solo to the Met Gala this year, saying Ben was busy working on “The Accountant 2.” But the real kicker was when they put their $68 million marital home up for sale.
There were reports saying they were on different pages in their marriage. A source told US Weekly, “Jen and Ben are having issues in their marriage. They started having problems a few months ago as Jen ramped up work commitments and prepped for her tour.” TMZ also reported that Ben had moved out, with a source saying, “He’s left the house he’s been seen coming from and going to, and he’s been spending nights elsewhere.”
At this point, it’s pretty clear they’re not together anymore. Their recent actions definitely don’t give off couple vibes.
Ben Affleck missed Jennifer Lopez’s recent birthday bash, and they marked their second wedding anniversary apart. While JLo enjoyed a bike ride in the Hamptons on their anniversary, Ben was spotted heading to his Los Angeles office, seemingly going about his day as if it were any other.
Sources suggest their marriage is struggling, though it seems their issues go beyond JLo’s celebrity status. Public arguments between them have been quite visible. In one video, Jennifer is seen snapping at Ben during a tense moment, and they tried to downplay it once they realized people were watching. Another clip shows Ben walking away from JLo, and it’s clear he seemed relieved to get some distance.
If it were just one or two videos, it might be understandable; every couple argues sometimes. But the frequency of their public disputes is troubling. For example, Ben appeared stressed and even slammed a car door after helping Jennifer into the passenger seat during a coffee run in LA. That same month, they were caught in what looked like a heated argument in a car at a traffic light in Beverly Hills, with Ben pointing at Jennifer as she looked away.
These public squabbles make you wonder what’s going on behind closed doors. Rumors suggest Ben is struggling with JLo’s high-profile lifestyle. JLo is open and public with her fans, while Ben prefers privacy, leading to daily friction. This isn’t surprising, considering that when they broke up in 2003, Ben mentioned that constant scrutiny was a strain on their relationship. He later adjusted when they rekindled their romance but expressed concerns about their relationship being too public in Jennifer’s 2024 documentary, “The Greatest Love Story Never Told.”
On top of that, JLo is said to have pressured Ben to maintain a certain image, leading to frustration over rumors about cosmetic procedures she allegedly encouraged. With all this pressure, along with ongoing controversies, it’s no wonder their relationship is facing difficulties.
Natanya has accused JLo of lying to the grand jury and thinks she should be investigated along with Diddy. JLo had testified, saying, “We had to go and speak at the Grand,” which many others also confirmed. Natanya feels this needs to be reopened because, if JLo did mislead the grand jury, it’s a serious issue that needs a fresh look.
Meanwhile, Ben must have been watching this unfold and thinking, “This is nuts.” On top of that, Mariah Carey has reportedly been throwing shade at JLo, which isn’t surprising given their history. The drama goes way back to the early 2000s. In her memoir, The Meaning of Mariah Carey, Mariah revealed that while working on Glitter, she wanted to use a sample from Yellow Magic Orchestra’s 1978 song “Firecracker” for her single “Loverboy.” However, after her split from Tommy Mottola, he used his influence to block her success, leading to a similar track appearing on Jennifer Lopez’s album, which Mariah found suspicious.
Mariah’s irritation with JLo is pretty clear from her past comments. When asked about other female artists, Mariah spoke highly of Beyoncé but simply said she didn’t know JLo. During a 2002 interview on Larry King Live, Mariah was asked about any beef with JLo and said, “In this business, there are rivalries, but I don’t think she has anything to do with me. My focus has always been on singing and songwriting.”
