Why can’t anyone just be honest? It seems like people are waiting for Chrissy Teigen to get plastic surgery and end up like an older version of herself so they can imagine her and John Legend teaming up in musicals. Let’s be real: John Legend would probably rather spend time with Chrissy than anyone else.
Jaguar, you’re stirring the pot. Are you trying to suggest that Common is secretly interested in John Legend? That’s not the kind of gossip I expected, but let’s see if there’s any truth to Jaguar’s claims.
I wish Lonnie (Common) would just be open about things. If he’s bisexual, that’s okay. There’s speculation that all of Common’s relationships might have been for show. Some people think he struggles with his sexuality due to a traumatic experience in his past. This might explain why he has difficulty connecting with women.
So, you know I always dig up the juiciest stories for you all. Recently, I stumbled upon an interesting tale. A friend of a friend mentioned that her husband was at a Hollywood event this summer with his wife, who works in the industry. During the event, Common spent nearly an hour chatting with him, especially while his wife was busy with her work. The funny part? The husband had no idea who Common was until his wife told him later that night. Oh, and just to paint a picture, this guy is white and incredibly good-looking.
Fast forward to around 3:00 a.m., and his wife texted him to come outside. At that moment, Common supposedly asked him, “So, what are you doing later tonight?” To which the guy replied, “Going home with my wife,” making the whole situation pretty awkward. I asked him several times if there was any chance of a misunderstanding, but he insisted, “Nope, it was exactly how it sounded.”
Interesting, very interesting. I can’t personally verify that information, but I can tell you that Jag is convinced Common acts that way, especially since she dated him. When people accused her of trying to make it in the industry by any means necessary, she explained that these accusations were why she broke up with Common.
“You have girls like me who try to date carefully and smartly but don’t date too much because people will say you only got where you are because of him. That’s why I broke it off with Common. I was about to get my shot, and I didn’t want anyone giving him credit for my work.”
Jaguar feels it’s unfair for someone else to step in after Common. She wishes people knew the real truth about him, which, according to her, is that he doesn’t genuinely love black women. Instead, he uses them for social gain and chases clout at their expense.
Jaguar and others have been saying for years that Common’s relationships are just for show. If you think about it, none of the celebrities he’s dated have ever mentioned how he is in bed. They talk about him a lot, but as Jaguar pointed out, they never touch on that topic. Maybe these women are just respectful and prefer to focus on other positive things, or maybe there’s some truth to what Jaguar is saying.
Let’s make sure we’re on the same page about Common’s past relationships. His first public relationship was with Kim Jones, and they had a daughter together. Unfortunately, they split when their daughter was just a year old. In his 2019 memoir, “Let Love Have the Last Word,” Common shared that his daughter felt he didn’t try hard enough to be involved in her life, which was a tough revelation for him.
After Kim, Common was in a relationship with Erykah Badu from 2000 to 2002. They even collaborated on some songs together. Even years after they broke up, Common has referred to Erykah as his first love, and Erykah has always spoken highly of him. She once said, “Me and Comm are still very close. He’s really sweet. He’s the most compassionate human being I’ve ever met.”
Common has had several notable relationships over the years. Reflecting on his relationship with Taraji P. Henson, he once said, “See, Taraji, she’s a good woman. Just from what she said, she’s like, man, I have to consider my son, so I appreciate a woman who thinks like that.” Taraji also shared her thoughts on Common, stating, “Common was the last real long-term relationship I had. After that, I didn’t want to date anyone because my son was sad. He was sad when we broke up. It affected him.”
Another high-profile relationship Common had was with Serena Williams. Reports suggest Serena initiated the split, but Common later expressed that he still had love and respect for her, saying, “We have a great understanding, and I care about her as a person. We may not talk every day, but I still have respect and love for her and want to see her do well.”
Common also dated political analyst Angela Rye, who mentioned that their breakup was due to them being on different pages in life. Then there was Tiffany Haddish, who described her relationship with Common as the best she ever had. She even joked that if he ever proposed, she’d want him to do so with an apartment building. Although she misses him from time to time, Tiffany acknowledged that he might not be the type to settle down: “He might be the type of person that never really settles with somebody. Maybe he’s like a bee, going from flower to flower. I don’t know. I wish him nothing but joy and happiness.”
Other women linked to Common include Ava DuVernay and Chadwick Boseman’s widow, Simone. Most recently, there’s been talk about Jennifer Hudson.
As a host, I have to ask the question everyone is curious about: Are you dating anyone?
Yes, I’m in a relationship with one of the most beautiful people I’ve ever met. She’s smart, loves God, and has a down-to-earth nature. She’s talented too. I set my standards high because she had to have an EGOT, win an Oscar with her first movie, and get her own talk show.
There are so many powerful Black women out there, right? So why hasn’t he settled down with any of them? If you ask Jaguar and some others, they’ll tell you it’s because Common isn’t really into women like that. He did recently say that if he ever gets married, Jennifer Hudson would be the one. He also mentioned he’s finally feeling like the marrying type.
Are you the marrying type? Do you think this one could be the one?
We’re going there? I like that. You’re different. You made it sound like I’ve changed. I do feel like I’ve grown, and all the work I’ve done on myself has made me realize I am the marrying type. I have the capacity for it, and I might want to get married at some point. I believe everything happens in divine timing. When God speaks to your heart and spirit, you know. So, when I feel that, I’ll communicate with that person. If she feels the same, then why not?
It’s not like it would prove anything, since there are many married men on the DL. But what do you think about what Jaguar said? Do you believe Common is on the DL? Have all his relationships been fake? Let me know in the comments below.
