Quincy Confronts Al B. Sure for Fabricating Details About Kim Porter’s Marriage

Not too long ago, Quincy Brown opened up about his relationship with his father, Al B. Sure, describing it as more of a friendship than a traditional father-son bond. Even though he didn’t see Al as a father figure, he made it clear that he loved him and that their relationship had improved over the years. He also talked about how hard it was to constantly hear people say, “You look just like your daddy,” especially when their connection wasn’t strong. But back then, Quincy seemed optimistic, saying, “I love my dad, and we’re in a way better place now.” It was something a lot of people could relate to.

So, how did things take such a drastic turn to Quincy now seemingly dragging his biological father through the mud?

Honestly, Al B. Sure has a history of oversharing publicly, so it’s easy to see why Quincy might be frustrated. Let’s break this down.

Before Kim Porter started her high-profile relationship with Diddy, she was with Al B. Sure, and together they had Quincy. Kim even inspired Al’s iconic song, Forever My Lady. Interestingly, Al has claimed they were married, something he revealed during a Fox Soul interview. He said:

“Every time I post something, I forget it’s me. I’m a grandfather, so my concern is not about being popular or getting likes—that’s not what I do. But I posted something the other day talking about my ex-wife. Yeah, I said it—my ex-wife, Kimberly. But nobody knew because we didn’t talk about being married. Every so often, I give her a tribute.”

Despite their rocky past, it seemed like Quincy and Al had recently been mending their relationship. The two were seen spending more time together and were even spotted at a White House event not long ago.

However, after the recent Homeland Security raids on Diddy’s properties, Al shared a throwback photo with Quincy, captioning it with a message urging him to “come home.” It’s unclear what caused the sudden fallout, but the tension between father and son is definitely back in the spotlight. Family dynamics like this are always complicated, and it seems there’s still a lot left unresolved.
Letter to My Son: “Come home. The door is wide open. You’re safe here, son. I love you, Pops—your biological.”

A few days ago, Quincy opened up about his relationship with his biological father during an interview on Angela Yee’s Lip Service. He was asked about the 2009 open letter he wrote to his dad, where he expressed frustration over his father’s absence and how it had impacted him.

For those who remember, part of the letter read:

“As for my biological father, all I have from him is his looks. I’ve always wondered where he was, what he was doing, and whether he ever thought about me. His absence has shaped me into the man I am today. I’m thankful for my mom’s unwavering love, guidance, and strength.”

Al B. Sure responded to Quincy’s letter back then, speaking to Essence:

“I’m human, so hearing that a family member is disappointed in me stings. But what can you do? I’m only human, and my job is to make things right. I won’t air our private family matters in public, but Quincy is an amazing, kind young man. Whatever we’ve been through, we’re going to work it out—that’s all that matters.”

This is what the hosts of Lip Service were referring to when they pressed Quincy about what led him to write the letter to his father. Quincy explained that a conversation with Russell Simmons helped him figure it out:

“I was having dinner one night and ran into Russell Simmons. He asked how I was doing, and we got talking. When I mentioned I hadn’t spoken to my dad, he was like, ‘Wait, what do you mean?’ I told him I wasn’t sure how to reach out. That’s when he helped me realize that sometimes you just need to put your feelings out there and not feel like nobody knows what you’re going through.”

According to Quincy, things are much better between him and his dad now. He shared that Al recently congratulated him on his new project, ETA, and their relationship is in a much better place. Quincy said that time has helped heal old wounds:

“We’ve got a good relationship now. He tries to do the ‘dad thing,’ but we’re more like friends these days. We’ll say, ‘Let’s go do something.’ We’re two grown men, so we can talk about anything. It’s more about mutual respect now.”

Then, on the anniversary of his mom Kim Porter’s passing, Quincy shared a photo of himself with her, writing:

“Here’s a rare photo of me with my mom and dad. I miss you every day.”
Quincy knew exactly what he was saying when he mentioned that his mother played both roles in his life—both mother and father. His comment was bold, and to some, it might have come across as strange, especially since he’s been trying to build a relationship with Al. But many weren’t surprised by his words, thinking he was probably fed up with Al constantly posting about Kim Porter, her death, and Diddy’s ongoing legal issues.

It’s easy to see why some would think Al has been too focused on Kim’s death. For example, in November 2021, Al posted that Kim had been running from someone or something before she passed and even suggested she should’ve called the FBI. But shortly after posting, he edited the caption, removing the FBI mention and saying instead that Kim had been training for a marathon.

Al also shared his emotional reaction to Kim’s death, writing, “I just found this footage from the morning I learned of @ladykp’s (Kim Porter) death and how it ripped the soul from my physical body.” He went on to claim that Kim didn’t die suddenly from pneumonia and called the official explanation “BS.” He also tagged Diddy in the post, making it clear that Kim had been in great health just before her death.

Then in March 2024, Al stirred the pot again, hinting that Diddy had something to do with his 2022 coma. He teased a documentary about his life that would “shock the world,” promising to reveal more about how he ended up in the coma.

Al’s reaction to the release of Kim’s alleged memoir was equally dramatic. He shared a headline about Kim revealing Diddy’s “twisted secrets” and criticized how people had ignored his warnings about her death. He claimed that when he tried to share Kim’s fears, people dismissed him as crazy, even though he had been trying to warn others.

It’s easy to understand why Quincy might be frustrated with Al. Despite Quincy asking for peace and saying that the conspiracy theories around Kim’s death were causing him and his family distress, Al continued to stir the pot, posting more theories and continuing to talk about it. Al’s focus seemed to be more about how his name was portrayed in the book than addressing the deeper issues at hand.

Some people think Quincy might be stuck between two conflicting loyalties—trying to protect his siblings and his wealth, all while dealing with the complicated history he shares with both Diddy and Al. Quincy’s frustration with Al and Diddy might be more about protecting his family and his own peace than anything personal.

So, what do you think? Is Quincy caught in the middle, trying to navigate his family dynamics and protect his wealth? Or did he go too far in shading Al while still trying to honor him? Let me know your thoughts below.
