It seems like there’s a lot of drama unfolding with Judge Greg Mathis and the rumors surrounding his divorce. The speculation about infidelity and him possibly having a child outside the marriage has caught people’s attention, but it’s hard to know what’s really going on. The media often takes these stories and runs with them, which only adds to the confusion.
From what we’re hearing, Judge Mathis has been incredibly busy with his work, running charities, and handling his production company, reportedly working up to 70 to 80 hours a week. If that’s true, it’s easy to see how that could lead to issues at home. Relationships need time and attention, and when you’re constantly focused on work, things can slip.
As for the cheating rumors, without real proof, it’s mostly just hearsay. People love to jump to conclusions when it comes to public figures. The fact that Judge Mathis is reportedly calling the paparazzi on himself to address the rumors shows he’s trying to get ahead of the story, but once these kinds of allegations are out there, it’s hard to shake them.
What do you think? Is this just the media spinning things out of control, or do you think there’s more truth to it?
People close to Linda have been saying she gave up her entire life for Judge Mathis, while he spent the better part of the last 30 years constantly working. Apparently, Judge Mathis had promised Linda he would slow down so they could travel together and enjoy life, but it seems like he’s in no rush to keep that promise. According to an insider, life is too short, and while Mathis can keep working if he wants to, Linda isn’t willing to keep sacrificing her happiness for his career.
The insider also mentioned that Judge Mathis still has one last chance to save his marriage. If he’s willing to slow down and prioritize Linda, there’s a chance she might take him back. But this seems to be a tough choice for him, as he’s admitted that neglecting her is the main reason for their problems.
“For 25 years, my wife has always come third—behind my work, my show, and hanging out with friends. Guys, let this be a lesson—never be too busy, or have too much fun, to put your wife first.”
That brings up the question: Was this split a long time coming, or did it come out of nowhere?
Mathis himself admitted, “When we started taping here in LA, I promised I’d spend more time at home and make my wife a priority. But here I am, still on the road, doing the same thing. In July, I was away for three weeks, and that’s why the separation date is marked as the 17th.”
At least Judge Mathis is owning up to his mistakes and acknowledging that Linda is leaving him because he neglected her. To be honest, we’ve seen signs of this over the years. Even when their reality show Mathis Family Matters gave fans a peek into their lives, Mathis thanked Linda for letting him work such long hours.
He once said, “Getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is my biggest professional achievement, but my success comes from my family, especially Linda. She let me work 15-hour days, five to six days a week, and that support is what allowed me to become who I am today. Our love and support run deep.”
If there’s one thing that’s clear, it’s that Linda really did try. Even leading up to the divorce, they still seemed to be on good terms. At the start of 2024, they were seen together in Cabo, looking happy on social media. A few weeks later, in March, they were at an influencer’s brunch together, and they still seemed close. In an interview with Baller Alert, they even talked about the possibility of their reality show returning and how they stayed connected. As usual, Linda was supportive.
So, if you ask me, she really did her best to stand by him, but after years of sacrificing, it seems like Linda’s finally had enough.
“We’re really committed to giving back. In Detroit, we have the Mathis Community Center, a 10,000-square-foot facility where we focus on community service. That’s where we’re from, and it means a lot to us. But we’re not stopping there—we’re always looking for new projects and ways to get more people involved. Recently, we were nominated for an Image Award for The First Lady of BMF, a movie I created and produced. That kind of recognition brings a lot of joy.”
You mentioned our family show, Mathis Family Matters, and it’s important for us to show that Black families are strong and loving—not filled with conflict like some may assume.
A couple of weeks ago, Linda shared some photos and videos from a family Father’s Day celebration. She captioned them, “Had such a beautiful time celebrating Father’s Day with my family and friends at the Johnsons’ residence. It was so uplifting to celebrate all the fathers, especially Greg and Ryan, my son-in-law.”
Now, people have been talking ever since Linda filed for divorce. There’s a feeling that something’s being kept private. But Greg has made it clear that divorce isn’t what he wants. He’s trying everything to win her back. Even though they’re still living in the same house, he’s hopeful she’ll change her mind and they can work through things.
Linda hasn’t moved out of their Los Angeles mansion yet, so there’s still hope. Judge Mathis is putting in the effort to fix things.
So, would you say you and Linda are in a good place right now? Are you able to keep a friendship?
“Oh, definitely. We’re still living together and keeping a friendship. And I’m doing everything I can to get my wife back—really trying hard. I want to show her I’m changing before she goes through with the divorce. I’m determined. I’m going to win her back, that’s my goal!”
You can tell Judge Mathis is hurting, probably never thinking in a million years that Linda would want to leave. The emotion is written all over his face, and it’s clear how much he wants things to work out.
“But listen to this, honey: While Judge Mathis was trying to explain how he wants his wife back, he also touched on whether infidelity had anything to do with their divorce. This is what he said:
‘I just want to shut down all those rumors—it’s not about a baby or even me—none of that. I’ve already told you what the real reason is.’
There were some rumors about infidelity, so he was asked if he wanted to clear that up. His response?
‘Well, neglect can definitely lead to suspicion. And if you’re gone as much as I am—working, serving the community, attending events without your wife—it’s only natural for her to feel suspicious. She had every right to. But there was no cheating involved, that’s not why we’re going through this.’
Wait a minute—did he just mention a rumor about a child? I didn’t even know that was a thing. But more importantly, he said infidelity wasn’t the reason for the divorce.
But here’s the thing, girl: Did you catch how he worded that? He didn’t actually deny cheating. He just said it wasn’t the reason for the split. That little pause at the end? A lot of people are reading into that.
And what’s up with him going on a three-week vacation without his wife? I mean, come on—if my man was going away for that long without me, we’d definitely have a problem. And we don’t even have kids at home! It makes you wonder what was really going on during those trips, right?
Now, for those who’ve been following Judge Mathis for a while, these rumors aren’t new. There was a time when a woman came forward, claiming she not only slept with him while he was high on Coca-Cola but that he also allegedly asked her to sleep with his wife, Linda. I mean, what?!
And if that’s not enough drama, there were also rumors that he got a woman pregnant. I’m not sure if it was the same woman he supposedly asked to join him and Linda, but the story was that he fathered a child with her. Mathis denied ever knowing her, saying she was probably paid to make up the story.
This whole scandal led to that unforgettable showdown between Mathis and Wendy Williams. Let me remind you how wild it was:
Wendy started by saying, ‘You know me, I keep it real with my audience. They know everything about me, and what they don’t know, I share in my book. So, is it true you got this woman pregnant?’
Mathis shot back, ‘Wendy, I didn’t read that part. Now you’re just making things up! That’s defamation, Wendy.’
But Wendy wasn’t backing down, ‘Alright, then you tell me what she said!’
Mathis fired back, ‘You’re the one with the anger here. And let’s talk about your past—you’ve admitted to being addicted to drugs. And you still show signs of it, especially that nasal passage issue. How many times have you blamed your baby for missing work? That’s as low as it gets.’
Then, just when you thought it couldn’t get any more heated, he added, ‘And what about the rumors of your bisexuality and all those alleged abortions? Did you write about those in your book, Wendy?’
Wendy, totally caught off guard, responded, ‘Eight? I’ve heard that rumor, too.’
And Mathis ended it with, ‘Well, did you mention that in your book?’
It was a full-on showdown! Now, I’m not saying Judge Mathis was definitely involved with that woman, but for Wendy to know all that tea, there must’ve been something going on. And the way he lost his cool? That’s more than just a man defending his honor—it looked like there was some truth he didn’t want getting out.”
No matter what he’s saying now, people are still bringing up the same claims Wendy made years ago—that Greg allegedly cheated on his wife and even has a love child. Think about it: how old is Judge Mattis’s oldest child? Thirty-nine, right? And Linda, his wife, isn’t Jade’s biological mom. For those who don’t know, Greg actually admitted in his memoir that he had a brief fling, possibly a one-night stand, just before he and Linda were about to get married. The woman he was with claimed she was pregnant, and Greg had to gather the courage to tell Linda. He feared she would leave him, but she didn’t. Instead, she went ahead and married him, and Jade grew up with Linda as her mom. They have a close relationship, even though Linda isn’t her biological mother.
But does this mean Greg has been cheating from the start? Weren’t he and Linda dating long before they got married? Could Jade’s biological mom still be part of the drama? And here’s the thing—Greg didn’t outright deny that he cheated. What he did say is that infidelity wasn’t the cause of the divorce. He even admitted that he understood why Linda would have her suspicions. But he didn’t clearly say, “I’m not a cheater.” A lot of people think Greg isn’t being completely honest, pointing out that Linda has been by his side for years, putting up with his workaholic lifestyle. Why would she suddenly get tired of it now?
And if I remember correctly, Greg had already cut back on his work schedule quite a bit to spend more time with Linda. So, this has to be about more than just him being busy or neglectful.
People on social media are also talking about Greg’s personality, suggesting that maybe Linda got fed up with more than just his job. For instance, in 2019, the police looked into an incident where Greg allegedly spat on a valet. The incident happened outside a club in Detroit, and according to reports, Greg got upset with the valet over whether he had the car keys and ended up spitting on him.
There was another recent incident involving the LA Department of Water and Power. An employee claimed that Greg pulled a gun on them during a confrontation. Apparently, Greg got angry when they asked him to move his car. Things escalated, and Greg allegedly flashed a gun at the workers. But when asked about it, Greg had a different story. He said that the workers were blocking his driveway and he couldn’t get his car out. Still, the employees insisted that Greg was being incredibly rude and disrespectful.
It’s also worth mentioning that Greg didn’t come from an easy background. He grew up in one of Detroit’s roughest housing projects and was even part of a notorious street gang, the Arol Flynn. He got into a lot of trouble back then, with a long criminal record, and he even spent some time in jail when he was 17. According to him, it was his mother, who had cancer, who begged him to leave the street life behind. After that, Greg turned his life around—he got a job at McDonald’s, enrolled in Eastern Michigan University, earned a law degree, and eventually became the youngest person to be elected as a district court judge in Michigan’s 36th District at just 34.
So, while Greg has come a long way and achieved a lot, his past and his behavior continue to raise eyebrows, and people are left wondering how much of the truth we really know.
But some people argue that even though he’s moved away from the street life, it still has a hold on him. So, could it be that Linda was dealing with more than just neglect and cheating? What’s your take on it?
And then there are the rumors that he might’ve even tipped off the paparazzi about his own arrival at the airport. That just makes things seem even more shady, doesn’t it?
Honestly, I don’t know, guys. After 39 years of marriage, filing for divorce feels like more than just a warning to me. It seems like Linda’s already halfway out the door. And if he’s trying to win her back, it’s going to be a tough battle. At his age, I’m not sure he’s got the patience for it.
What do you think? Could Linda change her mind and give him another shot? And how do you feel about the way he responded to the cheating rumors? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!
