It looks like Jonathan Majors might be back on the upswing professionally, but allegedly, it’s coming at the cost of his relationship with Meagan Good. Rumor has it he’s already broken things off with her, despite everything she supposedly did to help him rebuild his image. Word on the street is that Meagan held him down when he was struggling—paying for everything from his rent and clothes to his child support. If this is true, it’s rough because Meagan really can’t seem to catch a break.
So, let’s get into this mess.
For some of you, this breakup news probably isn’t all that surprising. A popular social media influencer recently spilled that Jonathan seems ready to move on, leaving Meagan behind. The signs might have been there for a while, too. Remember their red-carpet appearance in June at the Hollywood Unlocked Impact Awards? Jonathan received the Perseverance Award, but his body language spoke volumes. He looked visibly uncomfortable when Meagan posed solo for photographers, and the tension was hard to miss.
And then there was that moment with Michael Ealy. A video of Meagan hugging up on Michael right in front of Jonathan went viral, and people couldn’t stop talking about Jonathan’s reaction. His face said it all—he was clearly not happy. Some even noticed Meagan glancing at him afterward to gauge his reaction, but he didn’t give her the time of day.
Now, multiple sources are saying the relationship might actually be done for good. Jonathan is currently in Canada filming what’s being called a career-defining project. With his career seemingly back on track, the rumor is he feels like he doesn’t need Meagan anymore.
If true, this is pretty heartbreaking, especially considering how much Meagan reportedly supported him when things fell apart. After Jonathan faced allegations from his ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari, his career took a major hit. Grace accused him of assault during a fight, claiming he twisted her arm and struck her head while trying to take his phone back from her. The incident led to a highly publicized legal battle.
Throughout it all, Meagan stood by Jonathan’s side. She showed up in court with him, holding his hand, and sat through testimony where prosecutors painted him in a negative light. According to sources, Meagan believed Grace’s claims didn’t add up and thought Grace was manipulative and controlling during her relationship with Jonathan.
Fast forward to now, and the rumors are that Jonathan is ready to leave Meagan behind, despite everything she did for him. If this is true, it’s a tough pill to swallow for Meagan, who’s been there for him through thick and thin.
It was reported that the struggles during the trial only brought Jonathan and Meagan closer together, strengthening their bond. Courtroom sources even shared that they were both in tears on the final day of the trial when Jonathan’s lawyer gave the closing remarks.
Sadly, Jonathan was found guilty and sentenced to up to a year in prison. In the aftermath, Marvel Studios cut ties with him, removing him from his role as Kang the Conqueror in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It was also announced that he would no longer star in the film adaptation of Walter Mosley’s The Man in My Basement, nor was he considered for a role in the upcoming fifth season of the Otis Redding biopic, Otis and Zelma.
His involvement in The Understudy was also thrown into doubt, with no updates on the project since the allegations came to light. To make matters worse, he was reportedly dropped by both his management team at Entertainment 360 and his PR team at The Lead Company.
When it came to brand deals, the U.S. Army pulled a campaign featuring Jonathan just a week after his arrest, and the Texas Rangers removed him from their 2023 season ads.
Since Jonathan wasn’t bringing in any income, Meagan reportedly took on the responsibility of covering all their expenses. Not only did she help clean up his public image, but she also paid for everything in their household, including child support for Jonathan’s daughter from a previous relationship. She even took care of the $75,000 dog training bill, which one source described as “crazy.”
Another source shared, “No one understands why Megan is still with him. If things keep going like this, she might not even be able to pay her mortgage.”
The story is that when Jonathan was dealing with legal troubles, he started dating Megan, who has a lot of support within the Black community. From a PR perspective, it seemed like a smart move to help improve his image, especially among his Black fans. But now that his career is picking back up, it looks like Jonathan is starting to distance himself from Megan, and it seems like he’s ready to move on.
Honestly, I can’t help but feel bad for Megan. After everything she’s been through, choosing to stand by Jonathan and defend him—this situation must be not just tough but also really embarrassing for her.
Not too long ago, Megan said her friends had warned her about dating Jonathan.
When asked how she was able to start a relationship in the middle of all the drama, Megan explained:
“I won’t go into how it started, but I will say that the support we’ve been able to give each other—honest conversations, love, respect, care, and thoughtfulness—has been really wonderful.”
When asked if any of her friends had suggested she wait because of Jonathan’s legal issues, Megan admitted:
“Yeah, every friend did. But at the end of the day, I trust my spirit, I trust God, and when I move to the beat of my own drum, I can always look in the mirror and say, ‘I’m proud of that.’ No matter what happens, I have peace and harmony in my heart. I take everyone’s opinions into account, but in the end, I have to live my life. I want to be responsible for the choices I make.”
Looking back, it seems like she might’ve been better off listening to her friends because, unfortunately, Jonathan is reportedly doing exactly what they warned her about.
Another reason people are talking is how quickly Megan jumped from one toxic relationship to another. For context, Megan was married to Devon Franklin for nearly a decade. During their marriage, Devon often defended her, especially against backlash from the Christian community about her fashion choices. But in December 2021, Devon filed for divorce. They later shared a joint statement:
“After much prayer and consideration, we have decided to go into our futures separately but forever connected. We celebrate almost a decade of marriage together and the love that is eternal. There’s no one at fault. We believe this is the next best chapter in the evolution of our love. We are incredibly grateful for the life-changing years we’ve spent together as husband and wife.”
Devon later admitted the divorce was emotionally devastating, saying he cried himself to sleep every night:
“Mentally, I’m doing much better now. But the process to that… There were nights where I cried myself to sleep and moments when I was angry. I allowed myself to feel whatever I needed to feel in order to heal.”
Even though they released that statement, many people weren’t shocked by the divorce. Megan and Devon seemed to have different personalities and lifestyles, and a big part of that tension was Megan’s public image. She got a lot of criticism, and some people think that only made their differences more obvious. There were also rumors that Megan didn’t want to have children with Devon, which they denied, but many believed that could’ve played a role in their split. On top of that, there were whispers that Devon was controlling, which didn’t help matters.
So, when Megan moved from Devon to Jonathan, people were understandably confused. Jonathan had a lot of red flags, even before his legal issues. After his arrest, old allegations resurfaced about his erratic behavior in the theater scenes in New York and at Yale. In April 2023, Variety reported that several women had come forward in connection with Jonathan’s incident with Grace and were working with the District Attorney’s office.
A report from Rolling Stone in June 2023 painted a picture of Jonathan as someone with a long history of controlling and manipulative relationships. Former partners described him as volatile, physically intimidating, and aggressive. Some even claimed he was emotionally abusive. One woman said Jonathan was so aggressive that he allegedly strangled her, while another described their relationship as nothing short of emotional torture.
Before getting involved with Megan, Jonathan had some serious legal issues with an ex that resulted in him serving a year in prison. How did Megan not see the red flags?
During an ABC interview after his conviction, Jonathan referred to Megan as his “Coretta,” seemingly comparing her to Coretta Scott King.
“She’s an angel. She’s held me down like a Coretta. I’m so blessed to have her,” Jonathan said.
This raised eyebrows, especially since it echoed a leaked phone conversation between Jonathan and Grace, where he also mentioned Coretta Scott King while giving Grace a lecture on how she should behave.
Now, people are starting to think Jonathan only uses women for PR, and many feel like leaving Megan—especially after she was the one covering all the bills—was pretty low.
Do you think Megan is to blame here? Some have always felt like their relationship had a “contract” vibe from the start. What’s your take on Jonathan seemingly using and then discarding Megan? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
