Lisa Raye Calls Out Nicole Murphy for Role in Marriage Breakup: Gold Digger Accusations

LisaRaye McCoy recently stirred up some old drama, revisiting claims about an affair between her ex-husband, Michael Misick, and Nicole Murphy. On Carlos King’s Reality with the King podcast, she opened up about the betrayal that led to the end of her friendship with Nicole—and it’s clear the memory still stings.

LisaRaye shared that her mom had warned her about Nicole years before she married Misick. “She was at my bachelorette party,” LisaRaye said. “My mom told me, ‘You gotta watch that one.’ I didn’t think much of it at the time. I was like, ‘That’s Eddie Murphy’s wife—what’s the big deal?’”

But years later, things took a turn. LisaRaye recalled discovering Nicole’s name on a private jet manifest for a trip to Turks and Caicos, where her then-husband was the Premier. What threw her was that Nicole had apparently made the trip without giving her a heads-up. “If you have a girlfriend who owns an island,” LisaRaye said, “wouldn’t you call her and say, ‘Hey, I’m coming’? Why would you accept an invitation from my husband if you don’t even know him?”

Things came to a head when LisaRaye saw footage of Nicole and Michael together at a private airport. “They pulled up to the plane, got out of the car together, and that was enough for me,” she said. “I thought, ‘Wow, so this is how it is.’” While she kept some details private, she added, “That part is my business. The rest is someone else’s.”

This old scandal reignited online debates. Some say LisaRaye has every right to still be upset, but others accuse her of hypocrisy, pointing out rumors that she allegedly had an affair with NBA player Gary Payton while he was married. Critics have called her out for labeling Nicole as a “homewrecker” and a “gold digger” after all these years.

Despite the time that’s passed, LisaRaye’s emotions about the situation clearly haven’t faded, and her story has sparked fresh conversations about loyalty, friendship, and forgiveness.
LisaRaye opened up about her long-standing feud with Nicole Murphy, which stemmed from allegations of betrayal and infidelity involving LisaRaye’s ex-husband, Michael Misick. According to LisaRaye, she discovered a video showing Nicole and Michael arriving together at a private airstrip. When confronted, Nicole denied the accusations and eventually stopped answering LisaRaye’s calls. Frustrated, LisaRaye reached out to Michael Strahan, who was dating Nicole at the time, but he claimed to know nothing about the situation. LisaRaye then shared the incriminating footage with him.

Reflecting on the betrayal, LisaRaye said, “Where I come from, the South Side of Chicago, that’s a whooping. Period.” She was shocked and hurt, describing Nicole’s actions as something she’d expect from an enemy, not a friend. While Nicole has consistently denied having an affair with Michael Misick, LisaRaye claimed her ex eventually admitted to sleeping with Nicole multiple times, which played a role in their divorce in 2008.

Nicole’s own love life faced turmoil when her engagement to Michael Strahan ended in 2014, five years after they began dating. LisaRaye addressed the situation again in a 2019 interview, firmly stating, “She messed around with my husband. That’s not something you do to family. It’s a different level of betrayal.”

The tension between the two reignited after Nicole was photographed kissing director Antoine Fuqua, who was married to actress Lela Rochon. LisaRaye didn’t hold back, calling Nicole out for overstepping boundaries, saying, “Friends don’t do that.” Nicole initially downplayed the incident, calling it a “family-type kiss,” but later admitted it was a mistake and apologized. She claimed she didn’t know Fuqua was still married—a statement many, including LisaRaye, found hard to believe.

During an appearance on The Wendy Williams Show, Nicole faced tough questions about the scandal. Wendy presented photos of Nicole and Fuqua kissing in Italy, calling it “Exhibit A” and “Exhibit B,” and asked about the rumors that Nicole was a family friend. Struggling to explain, Nicole called the kiss “a moment” and admitted it shouldn’t have happened. She denied releasing any public statements about the incident but insisted she wasn’t responsible for breaking up LisaRaye’s marriage.

On social media, Nicole tried to defend herself, saying, “I never broke up anyone’s marriage.” She pointed to a statement from LisaRaye’s ex-husband that denied her involvement. Still, LisaRaye stood firm, saying Nicole’s actions betrayed trust and caused real harm to families.

Even though years have passed, LisaRaye remains unwavering in her stance. She said the betrayal left a lasting mark on her, and while she’d like to move on, the events are still a painful chapter in her life.
“Yes, and it’s not true. First off, her husband—Akos King—released a statement saying it’s not true. I saw that, but no one focused on that. They just kept talking about the situation with Roxy. So, it’s got nothing to do with me. I’m just saying… who believes what he said? Sure, men lie, but… men lie. But I’m telling you, it’s not true, okay?”

After that, Lisa appeared on The Ricky Smiley Morning Show, where she doubled down on her previous comments, clarifying that she never blamed Nicole for causing her marriage to end. She accused Nicole of playing word games during her interview with Wendy Williams:

“For those who are still running their mouths—like Nicole Murphy—I had to set things straight when they said I was lying. I’ve got receipts. Nicole played with her words on The Wendy Williams Show, saying, ‘I did not break up LisaRaye’s marriage.’ And I was like, ‘No, no. I never said that. I didn’t say you broke up my marriage.’ That’s not what I said.”

Lisa continued:
“I’m gonna let her play with her words, but she might want to come see me in person. She might want to tell me that face-to-face. I’d accept that woman-to-woman. I was woman-to-woman when I stepped to her before. So now she thinks I’m lying? I’m inviting her to come tell me that in person. Please and thank you. Let’s make that happen.”

Lisa also took aim at the 2020 affair rumors and expressed her frustration over being called a liar:
“When you sit there and lie in front of the world, you’re calling me a liar. We’ve already talked about this. Now you’re backing out? Do you want me to pull out receipts? I’m not the type of woman who wants to do that. But if you push me, I will. And if you keep mentioning my name, that’s not going to be good. I don’t want any beef. We don’t need to have any drama. I don’t need to see her. She does nothing for me, and I do nothing for her. But let’s keep it peaceful. When I see her, I don’t want to slap her. Let’s just keep it cool.”

As Lisa continued to talk about the affair, some people pointed out that while Nicole was wrong for her actions, Lisa shouldn’t be throwing stones when her own past is questioned. Some even brought up rumors about Lisa allegedly having an affair with Gary Payton while he was married.

Lisa responded to those rumors:
“Gary? That’s my boy. So, no, we didn’t have an affair. People don’t know what they’re talking about. If there was an affair, only those two would know. And I believe in karma, too. But what happened between me and my husband has nothing to do with karma.”

In the end, while Lisa is still clearly angry with Nicole for what happened and the accusations, some believe both women are equally at fault in their controversies.

So, what do you think? Does Lisa have a right to still be angry, or are they just two sides of the same coin who should let it go? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
